ACS New York Section
Long
Range Planning Committee
2008 Annual Report
The Long Range Planning
Committee (LRPC) met four times during 2008,
February 15, April 18, September 12 and November 14, 2008.
Attendance rate was 70-90%.
To continue revitalization of the Section, the LRPC recommended
the Section to systematically investigate the status of each committee,
sub-section and topical group. The Section Chair. Marc Walters, prepared
a survey that was sent to the chair of each committee, sub-section and topical
group. LRPC expects a report at either the February or April 2009 meeting.
To increase younger ACS NY section members, LRPC recommended a survey
of the Section members to determine younger member’s expectations for the
NY section, satisfaction of members re Section activities and interest in
being involved in the Section governance, etc.
The Board approved conducting a survey at the September 2008
Board meeting. Chair Walters with Chair-elect Barbara Hillery and other
Board members prepared a survey questionnaire that could be easily responded
to. The questionnaire was distributed at the end of 2008.
LRPC discussed using Computer Technology for meetings, more
High School student involvement in section activities and the future of
the Indicator.
Subscriptions to the electronic publication of indicator are expected to
increase. Systematical advertisements for electronic Indicator are recommended
to the Indicator committee.
Collaboration with other professional organizations and industries and
issues related to student members will be discussed at a future meeting.
